Born in Milan, Italy, Giancarlo is a session guitarist, guitar teacher, and PhD candidate. He is currently reading for a PhD on the topic of music education in Cuba, where he is to conduct research trips. He attained a Master of Arts Degree in Music Teaching at the International Centre for Research in Music Education of the University of Reading; received a Bachelor Degree (Hons) in Jazz, Popular & Commercial Music from Sunderland University; and obtained a Diploma in Electric Guitar Playing from the London College of Music Examinations, UoWL. In addition, Giancarlo studied Contemporary Guitar at the Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T): the guitar department of the renowned Musician Institute, and studied the Suzuki Method for Classical Guitar at ESA (European Suzuki Association).

In his teaching, Giancarlo draws on the latest research in music education and combines it with his versatile performance experience in order to best respond to different needs of each guitar student. Students can start guitar training as early as 4 years-old with the Suzuki Method, and later progress to any style or a combination of them thanks to his proven versatile music background and performing experience, which allows students to develop their musical preferences in accord with their diverse cultural background or guitar style of their choosing (classical, acoustic, electric, or jazz). Owing to this, his students may uniquely develop their guitar skills by combining the rigor and expressivity of classical technique with the creativity of jazz improvisation, the latest approaches in contemporary electric guitar playing, or the practical accompaniment skills of folk guitar playing.

Parallel to his regular guitar teaching, he provides training for prospective guitar teachers by supporting them in the preparation for International exams in Guitar Teaching. To this end, he is the creator, coordinator, and founding member of the Master Guitar Teacher Program (MGTP): the first course of the kind in Italy to offer a comprehensive teacher training designed for guitar teachers.

Moreover, Giancarlo has made a significant and distinguished contribution to music education in Italy by introducing all the London College of Music Exams in Italy and has been responsible for the promotion and organization of the exams for music schools located throughout Italy and Italian Switzerland. In particular, he has established the Italian affiliation of the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT): the world's largest international organization of guitar teachers in the world.

Besides to his role in Education, Giancarlo has maintained a regular performing schedule during which he has played in concert as a sideman of such diverse International Artists as Ian Finkel, Iris Williams, Gerard Kenny, Marti Webb, Clem Curtis and Elaine Del Mar. Furthermore, he has played in Orchestras for more than forty Stage Musical Productions Show.

Giancarlo currently divides his time among his pursuits as the Italian Representative for the London College of Music and Registry of Guitar Tutors exams, and teacher trainer. He speaks English and Italian as primary language of fluency and native language, respectively, and Spanish. His other interests while growing up included biking, cycling, and reading. Prior to becoming a full time professional musician, he worked for more than twenty years in numerous areas including food, cleaning, and printing industry.

Parla fluentemente Italiano (lingua nativa), Inglese (lingua professionale), e Spagnolo. I suoi altri interessi durante la crescita hanno incluso la bicicletta, il motocross e la lettura.
