Born in Milan, Italy, Giancarlo (otherwise known as G) is a guitarist, guitar educator, and researcher who revels in investigating best teaching practices across
cultures and linking them with academic disciplines. He is currently reading for a PhD on how clave-based music is transmitted in Cuba, where he conducts research trips.
He attained a Master of Arts Degree in Music Teaching at the International Centre for Research in Music Education of the University of Reading; received a Bachelor Degree
(Hons) in Jazz, Popular & Commercial Music from Sunderland University; and obtained a Diploma in Electric Guitar Playing from Thames Valley University.
In addition, Giancarlo studied Contemporary Guitar at the Guitar Institute of Technology (G.I.T): the guitar department of the Musician Institute, and studied the Suzuki
Method for Classical Guitar at ESA (European Suzuki Association). His breadth of interest includes languages, and he is a TEFL (Teaching English as a Second Language)
certified teacher.
As a session player, Giancarlo has played in concert as a sideman of such diverse International Artists as Ian Finkel, Iris Williams, Gerard Kenny, Marti Webb, Clem Curtis and
Elaine Del Mar. Furthermore, he has played in Orchestras for more than forty Stage Musical Productions Show as well as in different ensembles.
Besides to his session playing, Giancarlo has maintained a regular guitar teaching schedule. Parallel to his regular guitar teaching, Giancarlo provides training for
prospective guitar teachers. To this end, he is the creator and course leader of the Master Music Teacher Program (MGTP): the first course in Italy to offer a comprehensive
teacher training designed for guitar teachers. The course supports participants in the preparation for exams in music teaching and music education administered and awarded by the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) leading to a teaching Diploma mapped in the European Qualification Framework (EQF).
As for international exams, Giancarlo made a significant and distinguished contribution to music education in Italy by introducing the Registry of Guitar Tutors (RGT) and
the London College of Music Examinations in Italy. Under his professional promotion and unwavering dedication, he transformed an unknown examination board by taking it to
its peak in Italy, organizing exams for dozens of schools located throughout Italy and Italian Switzerland, and leaving Italy as the 5th country
worldwide by number of entries to LCM exams.
Giancarlo currently divides his time among his pursuits as a researcher, teacher trainer, guitar educator. He speaks English and Italian as primary language of fluency,
and can communicate in Spanish. His other interests while growing up included biking, cycling, and reading. Prior to becoming a full time professional musician, he worked
for more than twenty years in numerous areas including food, cleaning, and printing industry.

Come concertista, Giancarlo ha suonato in concerto come sideman di diversi artisti internazionali come Ian Finkel, Iris Williams, Gerard Kenny, Marti Webb, Clem Curtis
ed Elaine Del Mar. Inoltre, ha suonato in orchestre per più di quaranta spettacoli di produzioni musicali teatrali, e in differenti gruppi.
Accanto alla attività di concertista, Giancarlo ha mantenuto una regolare attività di insegnamento della chitarra. Parallelamente all'attività di insegnamento,
svolge attività di formazione per futuri insegnanti. A tal fine è ideatore, coordinatore leader del corso Master Music Teacher Program (MGTP): il primo corso di
questo tipo in Italia ad offrire una formazione di insegnamento completa pensata per gli insegnanti di chitarra. Il corso supporta i partecipanti nella preparazione
agli esami in insegnamento musicale amministrati e validati da Associated Board of the Royal School of Music (ABRSM) che conducono a diplomi in insegnamento riconosciuti
nel Quadro delle Qualifiche Europee (EQF).
Sul fronte degli gli esami internazionali, Giancarlo ha dato un contributo significativo e distinto all'educazione musicale in Italia introducendo in Italia
il Registro dei Tutori di Chitarra (RGT) e il London College of Music Examinations. Sotto la sua promozione professionale e infaticabile dedizione, ha trasformato
una commissione d'esame sconosciuta portandola al suo apice in Italia, organizzando esami per decine di scuole sparse in tutta Italia e nella Svizzera italiana,
e lasciando l'Italia come il 5° paese al mondo per numero di iscritti agli esami LCME.
Giancarlo attualmente divide il suo tempo tra le sue attività di ricercatore, formatore di insegnanti, insegnante di chitarra. Parla fluentemente italiano,
inglese, e può comunicare in spagnolo. I suoi altri interessi durante la crescita hanno incluso il motocross, la bicicletta, e la lettura.
Prima di diventare un musicista professionista a tempo pieno, ha lavorato per più di vent'anni in numerosi settori, tra cui l'industria alimentare,
delle pulizie e della stampa.
